Sophie & Ford — Minted

We hope you can join us to celebrate our big day! We know that many of you will be traveling from far so we wanted to share some tips to help you plan ahead. The wedding venue, Château Ravatys, is in the Beaujolais region, about 45 minutes north of Lyon by car or an hour by train. The Beaujolais is a famous wine-producing region in France with charming old villages and beautiful landscapes.

You'll find suggestions on where to stay in the accommodations tab of this website. During the wedding weekend, we recommend staying somewhere local and renting a car for ease if you want to explore during the day (don't worry- we'll have shuttles the night of the wedding). If you're able to extend your trip, we highly recommend spending a few nights in Lyon before or after the wedding. It's the third largest city in France, with a long history, stunning architecture and the most famous food in the country!

Stay tuned for recommendations on things to do in the Beaujolais and Lyon.

flights & trains

If you are traveling from abroad (from the US, in particular) here are the major airports we recommend flying to. We've linked the airport website for each destination to help you get to the wedding venue once you land. For trains, SNFC is the national railway company in France. You should book all train travel on their official website here.

  • Lyon (LYS): This is the closest airport to the wedding venue in Saint-Lager. You can get to the Beaujolais in about an hour, and Lyon City Center is 30-40 min away. Taxis, Uber and rental cars are available for hire once you land, or you can grab a train. Belleville-sur-Saône is the nearest train station to the wedding venue.
  • Paris (CDG): If you prefer direct flights, you can fly into Paris and take the high-speed train ("TGV") for the rest of the journey. If you decide to check out Lyon, you can get there in 2 hours nonstop. If you are heading straight to the wedding venue, you can get a 1.5 hour direct train to Mâcon which is 30 min by car from Saint-Lager.
  • Geneva (GVA): Flying into Geneva, Switzerland is also an option and sometimes more affordable. You can fly direct from NY and DC and Geneva is only two hours away from Lyon on average by car, bus or train.
